Season Impacts- COVID-19
by posted 03/19/2020

Greetings Families,

With all of the uncertainty going on now amid COVID-19, I wanted to reach out and discuss our upcoming lacrosse season. Unfortunetly, at this time RIYLL has made a blanket statement that ALL activity is suspended until further notice.  So, unless you hear from us, no lacrosse (yet). The hope is to start the season in a delay and adjsut as necessary once we have a clear start soon as we have word we will pass it along but I suspect that as long as the kids are staying home from schoolk our season will continue to be delayed.

That being said, as your players are home and going stir crazy please encourage them to take their lacrosse stick out to the backyard, garage etc and work on stick skills!! Not only will they stay sharp on their lax skills, but hopefully get some energy out!

US Lacrosse has a TON of videos and drills they can check out. Cradeling and running, throwing and catching (either with a sibling or against the wall), practicing ground balls etc.

I've also found a few different videos on youtube.

Be safe, try and practice stick skills and hopefully we'll all be back together on the field in a few weeks! Go North!

5/6 D1 Preseason Team Info
by posted 03/09/2020

Greetings 5/6 D1 Parents and Players,

I'm super excited you all are on my team and it's almost time for the season to start. This e-mail will be full of info on the season, so please read through it. I'm always available for any questions, if you need it for any reason through the season my cell number is 631-495-9203 and my email is

Who am I? For those of you who don't know me yet, I'm an active duty US Coast Guard officer currently stationed at Civil Engineering Unit Providence. I played lacrosse growing up on Long Island from 3rd grade through college at the CG Academy and have coached at HS and College Club level on and off for the last 15 years. My first youth experience was last year with the NK 5/6 team and we had a super fun and successful year. I'm excited to back with you all this year.

Parent Volunteers- I'm looking for parent volunteers to help with practices and games. If anyone is interested in being the primary assistant, or interested in helping out as available please, please, please let me know.

Practices- Practices start the week of March 30th. Our team will be practicing on the Quonset fields Monday and Wednesday 5pm-6:30pm (or 1700-1830 for any of you military folks out there). If the weather cooperates we'll be outdoors on Monday March 30th and Wednesday April 1st. Additionally we have a few indoor sessions scheduled  at WWIS- Friday April 3rd 6pm field 2, Monday April 6th 7pm field 4 and Wednesday April 8th 6pm field 2 (the 6th and 8th  will be moved to normal time outdoors if the weather allows). If weather cancels practice or moves it indoors I'll be sending out notification to the team as soon as I know!

Games- Games will begin the Saturday April 11th and run every saturday (Yes, even Easter and Memorial Day weekend) through June 6th. Playoffs, if we qualify, will start the week of the 8th and end NLT June 14th. With only 16 players on the roster, it's important that every play makes every game!!! Please let me know as far in advance as possible if you'll be unable to come to a game. We expect the schedule to released the week of March 23rd.

Player Numbers- I need to enter each players jersey numbers into our roster. Please send me an email with your players jersey number.

Parent Meeting- The Spring parents meeting will be held Monday April 6th from 6-7pm at WWIS . Come on out to hear updates on the season, hear the philosophy and goals of the league and get any questions answered.

Goalie- I'll be asking players at the first few practices if anyone is interested in playing goalie this season (either full time or for one half of a game if they still want to play field). If we don't have volunteers it will rotate through the team to ensure we have someone in goal. Equipment will be provided by the league.

Googles- US Lacrosse rules mandate that as of January 1st, 2020 all goggles must be SEI certified to the current ASTM F3077 lacrosse standards in order to be "legal" for game play. Take a look at your players goggles and make sure that they are marked with the SEI logo and "Certfifed Model ASTM F3077-17". Info on approved models can be found on the  US Lacrosse website.

Congrats- you made it through a doozey of an e-mail! If you have any questions feel free to let me know!
